Skipping and Screaming Records That Go Boom Bip Blah
Another helping of stuff:
a) you think is crap
b) you think is weird
c) you just don't "get"
d) you think hurts your record/cd player/computer
e) you think was possibly manufactured incorrectly thus the non linear, non repetitive nature of "the beats"
f) i like.
Jan Jelinek - Avec The Exposures La Nouvelle Pauvreté - dubby etheral chilled dark beats.
Instrumentals-Staedtizism 3 - Another ~scape records compilation that sounds fresh today. abstract w. a touch of hip-hop.
Clicks & Cuts 3 - Another volume from Mille Pateaux Records to showcase German Minimal Beats.
Lali Puna - Tridecoder - The first album from this German experimental pop group on Morr Music. Sounds like 'Idioteque' from Radiohead's Kid A was influenced by this album.
Deadbeat - Wild Life Documentaries - Twisted surreal trippy conscience bending experience. Beautiful darkness.
Split Series 9-16 - A compilation from FatCat Records with Kid 606 and others showing how fuked-up beats can get.
Well Suited for General-Purpose Audio Work - A compilation on Schematic Music with Richard Devine, Otto Von Schirach and others blurring the lines of reality with electronics, or blurring electronics with reality.
Putting The Morr Back in Morrisey, A Morr Music Compilation - A great roster of artists showcasing the downtempo woozy sounds including The Notwist, Lali Puna, Solvent and others. Remember, "some girls are bigger than others".
Youth Group - Skeleton Jar - A BritPop group from Australia on Epitaph? Huh? Nice melodic pop hooks. Sounds a bit like Tim Booth from James ('Laid' - an incredible collection of emotive songs)
Miss Kittin - Happy Violentine - A 6 song EP of remixes from LFO, Michael Mayer, Mad Professor and others. Subpar remixes for a subpar song. Sometimes a good remix can save a song and sometimes not Oh well.
Sia - Where I Belong - A 7 track remix single featuring 2 Roni Size mixes, a Hot Chip mix, a Wookie Remix as well as others. The mixes are house, bad house (SF house), breaks, D&B, abstract/downtempo. A pretty good song, not as good as Breathe Me.
