Mellon Collie Music For Happy Clowns

Sometimes things just pass right by me. It's tough to keep up with the flood of new music and there's only so much a person's ear can take in a day. This band hailing from Denver Colorado I just discovered about 10 minutes ago and in the course of furiously trying to find songs to sample/download, I am dumbfounded how I missed them. Sounds from the eastern of the world, take a dash of Arcade Fire, a tad of Celebration, some circus performers (supposedly at some shows) and you get beautiful melancholy. What a find, too. They are playing here in SF in August at the Independent. There's just something about sad music. I found out about them through the trailer of 'Little Miss Sunshine' on Stereogum. It's the new movie starring Steve Carell and it looks promising. The name of the band DeVotchKa means Little Russian Girl.
