Soul Coughing - Funkytown (Steve Greenburg/Lipps Inc.) an interesting song to cover, but if any band could, Soul Coughing could. they were one of the tightest most energetic live bands ever. i think most bands should never get back together after a split, but these guys had something that was so unique that we will never again see the melding of truly all styles presented with the jazzy tight drumming swinging through the thunder of the upright bass with weird sampled (tori amos, daryll hall?) noises with the scampering twisted vocal rap delivery.

Paul Westerberg - Postcards From Paradise (Flesh For Lulu) sounds like he originally wrote it. i guess it's more ironic through the former replacements lead singer.

Beth Orton - Ooh Child (Alternate Version) (Stan Vincent/Nina Simone) i've always been on the fence about beth orton, but this song is great. sad, but hopeful. she does nina simone justice.

Ryan Adams - Wonderwall (Live,Paris) (Oasis) i hate oasis, probably more than coldplay and the killers. why do people like the killers ? well, ryan adams presents this song in minor chord melancholy. another ironically transformed song ?

Radiohead - It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine) (REM) thom yorke before singing ETIRP usually sings a few bars of other songs and here it's the rem classic. i need to get the one where he sings 'the one i love'. the most ironic love/hate song.

Donny Hathaway - Jealous Guy (John Lennon) this track is taken from Oliver Wang's excellent Soul Sides Volume 1 compilation.

Tiga - Hot In Herre (Nelly) words cannot do this song any justice. you can either laugh or dance, or do both. alittlebitahhh uhhh uhhh.
